Make It Majestic, Part Two

The final touches on a commanding bald eagle bust.

Make It Majestic Part Two

In the last issue, I demonstrated carving the bald eagle bust out of tupelo. Creating a bust is a great way to capture the intensity of the eagle’s glare, its majesty and dominance as a commanding bird of prey, and the beauty of its colors—without the need to invest the time in making the whole bird. On its own, an eagle bust is a splendid study of the species and makes for an eye-catching work of art.

In this issue, I will cover painting the bust. For the painting, I used Traditions acrylic paint. They are matte in finish and very durable, but you can choose the brand that works best for you. I do use an airbrush for my base coats for the ease of application, but using a wide shader brush will do the trick.
