Lark Bunting
The lark bunting (Calamospiza melanocorys) is a stocky black bird measuring between 5½ inches and 10½ inches with a contrasting white patch on its short wings. It is the state bird of Colorado. The species is a nomad that may be abundant in a certain area, then gone, moving south in large flocks in search of insects, grain, and seeds.
