The Curve-billed Thrasher
Measuring between 91 /2 to 11 inches in length, the curve-billed thrasher (Toxostoma curvirostre) is a common land thrasher that resides in the Southwestern part of the United States. It is slender and has a long tail. The head appears larger because of the long, curveddown bill, which the bird uses to turn over leaves in search of insects, seeds, and berries. Depending on its location, these thrashers have yellow, red, or red-orange eyes, and those in the eastern part of the Southwest differ in overall coloration.
