A Bird to Love or Hate
Blue jays seem to be one of those birds that leave birders with no middle ground. People either love them for their brazen ways, or dislike them because of their perceived faults. I am firmly in the first group. In fact, I have a shelf feeder right outside my desk window, about four feet from where I sit, and the jays and I meet there every morning for coffee and peanuts. I get the coffee, they get the peanuts. (A blue jay on caffeine is too much to imagine.)
