Oh, Canada! Part Two

Al explains how to paint the snow bunting a tribute to his Canadian friends.

Oh Canada Part Two

I am painting the snow bunting in its winter plumage. Just like everything else in Canada during the winter months, this bird has many shades of whites and buffs. There is really no exactness to the specific colors on the bird, nor is there an exact pattern to the colorations the bird exhibits.

My suggestion is to find a couple photos of a specimen that you like, and paint what you see. I can’t think of any other species of bird that exhibits such a variety of patterns and colorations as the winter snow bunting. This is a bird that should be very fun to paint. Don’t worry about how anyone else paints. Just take a deep breath and enjoy yourself!
